Job openings: Stephen is hiring

July 27, 2006 on 7:35 pm | In jobs, work | No Comments

I’ve got two new jobs at CNET Networks Business group that I’m trying to fill, so please pass these around to any and all who might fit. Both jobs are in San Francisco.

1) Senior Product Manager for ZDNet. This position involves the thankless task of taking over many of my day-to-day responsibilities for the ZDNet.com Web site, and working side-by-side with editor-in-chief Dan Farber to remake the side as a much more exciting and news-driven brand.

2) SEO Specialist. (That’s “search-engine optimization” for those of you at home.) This job requires a strong analytical/technical bent and an understanding of content. All harnessed to get more traffic to CNET’s business brands from the big 3 search engines. We have a HitWise license, too, which should help.

I’m the hiring manager, so send the resumes to me.

Josh Taylor gets a job

Consummate New Yorker (and foodie) Josh started his new job at Teach For America on July 17. He’s the VP of Communications or some such thing, for the very well-respected organization that trains college grads to teach for a couple years in low-income schools.

He’s also getting a puppy.

Job opening: a little bird told me

I understand there are some immediate openings in the online group at Hachette Filipacchi Media, specifically at For Me magazine and Women’s Day. They need producers and marketers in NYC. Drop me a note if you need the hook up, friends.

Alumni sighting: Sean Silverthorne

July 10, 2006 on 10:05 pm | In friends, work | No Comments

Sean Silverthorne, a coworker from ZDNet News who only briefly stayed on after ZDNet was acquired by CNET, is Editor of Harvard Business School’s Working Knowledge site.

I knew Sean went to work at Havard after leaving CNET and the Bay Area, but I had forgotten that long ago. He popped back into view because our BNET editor is monitoring a number of sites (including Wharton’s) and pointed out their bloggy redesign just a few minutes ago.

Nine Rubies is open

January 12, 2006 on 9:41 pm | In family, work | No Comments

Saloni and Sudha have opened their yarn store!

This a big day for the family, I don’t need to tell you. We’re still settling into the schedule, since the store is open every day from 10 to 7. (Comfortable shoes are being purchased as we speak.) There are new photos of the store on Webshots, which give a pretty good indication of how pretty it is. Several prospective customers have been poking around this past week, and they all comment on how beautiful it is.

I’ve also got a video, taken from Mr. Sarin’s digital camera. It’s about 1MB, and not the best quality, but here you go: Nine Rubies video.
